Item Details
A mid-century silver box, with an engine turned lid holds a small, yet blank cartouche. Whilst modest in dimension, the box is a good weight and probably started life as a table cigarette box. Given the 1960 date, the cigarettes could have been Sobranie Black Russians or perhaps even the rarer Sobranie Cocktail.
The original wooden interior has been retained, consolidated and is now finished in a magenta and red silk combination. The whole ensemble is screaming ‘earring box’ and would look at home in a contemporary or traditional setting. Amazingly during the research on this box, I noted that Sobranie Cocktail are now £30 a packet!

Condition is good, although the original wood interior does have a couple of very small patches where the years of a liquid silver cleaner being used have left some staining.
