A beautiful square, cedar lined, hallmarked sterling silver cufflink box previously having been used as a cigarette box. It is a light box that could comfortably accommodate up to a dozen pairs of cufflinks and not look out of place in either a modern or traditional setting.
It is just five years short of its 100th birthday and does of course reflect that in light surface scratches, rubbed hallmarks and very small dinks in a couple of places. In addition, like many other boxes from this era it can sometimes wear ‘a smile’ as atmospheric conditions change and the wood shrinks and swells.

ConditionCondition is good, although the assay marks are well polished and barely readable. Overall, the box shows that it has been well loved, with wear and dinks commensurate with age. We have furnished the interior with a striped shades of blue silk to the lid and base. The bottom of the box retains its original wood finish.
The ‘smile’ could possibly be corrected (see picture of closed box), although we concluded this might result in unnecessary stress to the silver elsewhere.
