This huge, beautiful, hallmarked silver cufflink-come-trinket box is hallmarked by one of the many silversmiths operating in Birmingham from the 1900’s onwards. Like many they gained their reputation for solid, serviceable silver items on the back of a huge growth in market of smoking paraphernalia. Dating from the early 1960’s this box would have originally graced coffee and dining tables, filled with cigarettes that were gaining a foothold in the UK market, including Gauloise, Disque Bleu, Sobranie Black Russians, Sobranie Cocktail, Marlboro and many others.
