Item Details
This is an is absolute belter of an Art Deco jewellery casket, based around a thoroughly refurbished 1920’s table cigarette box. It is most likely that the box was made by Deakin & Francis Ltd noting that the makers mark (visible on one end of the box;) is shaped like the two adjacent circles that denote the famous silversmith that was establish back in 1786.)
It has been beautifully fitted out with a really bright padded fuchsia silk that would protect a lot (if not all) of the loved one’s jewels.

This is a really well constructed box and typical of one the silversmith elite; probably Deakin & Francis. Alas, it has also been too well cared for, with both the hallmarks and the engine turned decoration [originally applied to the lid] nearly polished smooth by over-zealous or possibly even weekly polishing. Irrespective, the good gauge silver used in the box’s construction, means this casket still has a long and useful life ahead of it.
