Antique Silver Topped, Hobnail Cut Glass, Inkwell

A very heavy cut glass and silver mounted circular inkwell by the respected silversmith W Hutton & Sons Ltd. This is a truly delightful inkwell that is barely identifiable as having been used over its hundred plus years since leaving the workshop. The gilt lined lid is gorgeous, however the heavily cut glass base has some light scratching to the base demonstrating it has been used at some time. The silver is in very good condition with very clear hallmarks to the neck, whilst the glass has no cracks or chips and the hinge is strong. The cartouche to the lid has not been engraved and remains vacant. All in all, an excellent accessory on a traditional or more contemporary desk at home or in the office. Moreover, it is of a weight, such that it would function as a very effective paperweight! Gift wrapping is available if required.
