Item Details
A delightfully pierced heavy gauge silver photograph frame that has had a thorough refurbishment and is presented swathed in a turquoise velvet that beautifully compliments the work of the Henry Matthews factory. The easel back is similarly covered to the exterior surface, with hand dyed silk that is also used to line the inside back plate (where the photograph is placed). The frame will accommodate a photograph up to 13 x 9cm.
Please be aware that this frame is nearly 125 years old and therefore bears signs of its previous life. In this case there is little in the way of obvious polish holes in the silver although some detail is certainly ‘well-polished’.
We believe that the finish of this frame is far preferable to ‘silver flooding’ that can be used to cover some defects, but may also result in significant loss of detail.
Either way, if you are looking for a frame with presence and character, you might consider this one a great find.

The silver is generally in good condition, but as previously indicated it does bear evidence of previous owners polishing. However, this does nothing to impact the overall aesthetic or practical use of the item. Consequently, please do make time to review all of the pictures to gain a full appreciation of the item and its condition. The cartouche at the top is engraved with “E to M”.
