Antique Oval Silver Photo Frame - Green & Cadbury

A delightful mid gauge silver oval photograph frame, picking up some mid-Deco design cues for 'simple but different'. The silver has been thoroughly refreshed without ‘silver flooding’, or removing too much of the evidence of a 100 year life…so far. However, the oak has been cleaned, sanded and polished, bringing out the natural grain of the wood. The easel back has received similar treatment, whilst the inside of the backplate now wears a silk coat in a ‘rust’ hue. The frame will accommodate a photograph up to 15 x 10cm. This frame is 100 years old and therefore bears signs of its previous life. In this case there are a good few obvious dinks to the silver and the hallmark is ‘well-polished’. That said, if you would prefer a pristine frame, a contemporary version of this size would likely cost over £200. We believe that the finish of this frame is far preferable to modern silver, synthetic materials and little character, but you may feel differently, but thank you for looking.
